Usually drawing is viewed by several people as a simple activity. They view drawing simple activity. Some people are good at it and some are not. Some that good because of their talents and often practice it. Some even still view that drawing is kids activity. Cars, mountain, mother are example of children’s favorite theme for their pictures. The important point that might you to know that encouraging children the habits of drawing help them to expand their imagination and improve their skills.

Drawing is a visual art that makes use of any number of drawing instrument to mark a two-dimesional medium. Common instruments include graphite pencils, pen and ink, inked brushed, waxcolor pencils, crayons, charcoals, chals, pastels, markers, stylus or various metals like silverpoint. No one when art or drawing really began. Human supposedly made sketches and painting in early years. Cave painting are a good example. People have made rock cave drawings since prehistoric times by 12th-13th centuries AD. But how does drawing help them to expand their imaginations and skills?

First, when the children are learnig how to draw, what they are really learning is ability to see more clearly and communicate what they see or can imagine. They transfer a shape that they see from their eyes to a piece of paper. This moment requires two processes. They are including visual process and mechanical process. The visual process is when they see the object and figure it in our brain. The mechanical process is when the figure is transfer to a real shape in a paper. Scientist said that drawing is the single most important skill for any visual artist acquire, whether they are painter, illustrator, graphic designer. It is simply the act of “seeing” made visual. Basically, drawing is a tool for study and communication even before it is a tool for making art.

Second, drawing is an activity that come from expression and creation. We all know about it and no one will deny it. Why it’s said that drawing come from expression? There is a phrase that, “ A pictures tells you more than a words.”. Drawing is an activity that depend on the painter feeling. If you feeling angry or sad you could show it better through a picture than just say it. How about the “creation”? You will never make a picture if you are not move your drawing tool. I mean a picture is a final result from mixturing processing between your way express your feeling and your creation. Throgh a picture you can express your emotions or what do you feel at that time. Sadness, happiness, spirit, or another. Draw it with your hands not with your words.

Third, drawing helps children to expand the emotional quotation, cognitive side, and motoric side. Emotional Quotation (EQ) is one of children’s quotation that expand in emotional side. What is the relatiuon between Emotional Quatation and drawing? Drawing trains children’s patient, accuracy, and tenacity. When children start to drawing, they start it with choose the right theme. After that, they start to draw. If the picture goes wrong, they should erase it and try to draw it again much more carefully. The grapgic and the line are not easy. They have to take it slow on some difficult points. Its all need get a good picture. That is why drawing trains patient, accuracy, and tenacity.

Fourth, drawing improve the skills and talent. More often children practice,faster they improve their skill. Practice it regularly and their skills will improve bit by bit. Eventhough they have no talent, but with keep practicing, I believe someday later we they become a professional on drawing. Skills that may improve as an effect of drawing are spacing skill and drawing skill. Spacing skill here is power plane geometry. The power plane geometry or in mathematic called 3rd Dimension is a skill that demanding brain speed in to imagine, think, and calculate a build space is a 3rd Dimension shape. Another skill that also improve is our drawing skill. Drawing skill is needed in many way such as architect, room designer, artist, and , many others.

Fifth, drawing trains children’s mentality which ability to process feeling and ambition to reach their purpose. Mentallity aspec that expand while drawing is concentration. When children are learn to draw, their concentration will trained naturally. When they coloring their picture, they will tyr to colouring the picture’s angles carefully. They will also motivated to finish their picture with a good result. Concentration is a process that need one object centre. Concetration will help they finish their object on time and with maximum result. This is very useful in life.

The last, believe it or not, drawing is astimulant to grow children’s interest in studying. For example, when children want to draw a car.They will searsh and observe the shape of the car in a book. What its look alike and the kind of the car? What its color? This is an indirect way to teach our children and begin a new lesson.

There are many people with their famous pictures in the world. For example Leonardo da Vinci with “Monalisa”, André Masson in 1924 with “Ink on Paper”, William-Adolphe Bouguereau with “ Chiaroscuro Study Drawing”, and Hendri de Toulouse –Lautrec in 1897 with “Madame Palmire with Her Dog”.

Now, what we have learnt about drawing? One point that really important is that drawing help parents and their children to study in a joyful way. So now, let your kids draw their imagination. Never say stop when they begin to draw in the wall, but start it by giving them some papers.
